ANIMAL OMNIBUS
This site was definitely designed with children in mind! The Birmingham
Zoo Animal Omnibus is "a list of web sources indexed by the name of the
animal." Kids can search by animal name to get links to other resources.
The resources range from simple color photographs to more complicated
scientific classifications.

This webquest encourages cooperative learning as students work in teams to
research several internet sources to discover what we know about magnets and
how they work. They will thn bring it all together in a Hyperstudio presentation.

EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCE GUIDE: INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:
This site provides an excellent lesson on scientific methods, and the scientific steps involved with
experimentation. It also goes over errors, and the failure of a hypothesis.

SCIENCE PROJECT IDEAS:
The great part about this site is not just the variety of projects, especially for your middle school
students in the "Medium Difficulty Projects", but the instructions and illustrations that accompany
the suggested projects.
SOLAR SYSTEM GUIDE:
StarDate is a great site... It takes students through a journey of our solar stystem
using visuals, graphics and good information on planet formation, origins, discovery

GRAY ANATOMY -- Bartleby.com
Bartleby.com has been adapting classic books for the web, and has just added the 20th Edition (1918)
addition of GrayÕs Anatomy. DonÕt let the date of the edition fool you. This resource includes beautiful
illustrations and is searchable by keyword.

Benchmarks is a follow-up report of ÒScience for All AmericansÓ and specifies how students should

EXPLORATORIUM EXPLORANET
This San Francisco-based interactive museum of science, art, and human perception brings some of
its exhibits online, and also offers teacher resources, book lists, monthly recommended sites, and
interdisciplinary materials.
THE ANIMAL ALPHABET
For each letter of the alphabet, this site features an animal with picture, poem, and facts.

GAGGLE ANIMAL GAMES
Gaggle is a fun educational game that will teach you the special words used for groups of animals.
The Gagglexicon teaches the names so you can take the Gaggle Challenge. Instant feedback tells you
whether you are right or wrong and you can play timed or untimed. Need Java Plug in to play. Other
games can be found at the playground.
BUG CLUB ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB
The Bug club provides information on insects and other invertebrates. The site content is developed
by university biology students; you can e-mail them your insect questions, view samples of their
newsletter, request a ÒbuggyÓ pen pal, or visit the Bug of the Week.
NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION
The National Wildlife Federation offers educational information, lessons, games, and programs for
all ages at its site, complete with photos and graphics.
MT. WILSON OBSERVATORY VIRTUAL TOUR
This tour will take your students to all of the domes and telescopes of the Mount Wilson
Observatory, some of which are off limits to real tourists. Information on the workings of the
different telescopes, many images of the skies from their museum exhibit, and information about
the observatory can be found at this site.
THE SUN--A MULTIMEDIA TOUR

THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM
Information on all Natural History and Science topics - including biology, zoology, entomology,

This weather site, from a meteorologist at a Northwest TV station, is for both teachers and students.

SCIENCE LEARNING NETWORK
This site contains a web-based learning environment designed to support inquiry education, primarily
for science and math. The schools and science museums in the project encourage exploration and
experimentation in a variety of ways, including using an electron microscope, viewing virtual exhibits
and experiments, and giving you a chance to ask experts to answer science questions.
CHEM 4 KIDS!
Chem 4 Kids explains and illustrates matter, elements, atoms, and chemistry reactions. The vocabulary
section is a good resource. It also includes profiles of chemists. ThereÕs a chemistry quiz planned for
the future. It also includes a guided tour and and a search engine.
SCIENCE WEBQUESTS

This site provides an awesome collection of over 80 original animated movies covering health, science and
technology topics. The animated movies explain the human body and the world around us in an engaging and

HOW STUFF WORKS
A great site to receive information about anything you can think of works!! Currently highlighted is: How
Christmas Works, How Chocolate Works, How Snowmakers Work. There is a Question of the Day and often
the answers include pictures, graphics and animations. Great for both adults and kids.
EXTREME SCIENCE
This site will generate interest in science among elementary and middle
school students. The site profiles extremes( biggest, boldest, best, smallest, etc.) in the natural and
animal worlds. Check out the world records of the animal kingdom!
BIOMES OF THE WORLD
This site provides photographs, maps, and information on the world biomes, with pages on tundra, forests,
deserts, chaparral, and alpine mountains. Related links are provided for each different biome.
