The purpose of this project is to develop, deliver and evaluate a staff development
program for teachers that includes both instruction and practice in the innovative use of
cable television, video and internet resources in classroom instruction.

Over the last several years, teachers have been bombarded with new "pieces" of the
total technology picture: cable TV, video conferencing, video production, hardware,
software, and internet to name just a few. While many are becoming familiar with the
workings of the new technological tools, they are still a long way from integrating these
tools into the curriculum.

Recent studies show that there is a significant gap between technological knowledge
and educational use and practice. Teachers need time to gain familiarity with new
technologies, to observe experienced users, and to spend time with other teachers
studying and collaboratively developing new projects and uses of cable, video and
internet resources in the classroom. Studies also show that teachers and professionals
working together thrive when new learning is coupled with technical assistance,
coaching, reflection and evaluation.
